The ANKOM Positive Control Capsule Set was developed to simplify the validation test of your RF Gas Production System and provide a positive control curve for comparison within each experiment. The validation test familiarizes the user with the system and ensures the system and all the modules are functioning properly. ANKOM recommends running a validation test at least once per quarter by adding one BLUE capsule, one CLEAR capsule, along with 100ml of distilled water, to each RF1 bottle.
For detailed instructions about running a validation test, see ANKOM RF Service Procedure 004.
The ANKOM RF Maintenance Kit provides the essential tools needed to keep your RF Gas Production System operating smoothly. The following items and instructions for each are included:
1 - RF70: Positive Control Capsule Set (set includes 5 BLUE capsules, 5 CLEAR capsules), performs five validation tests
5 - 7074: Viton Ring Gaskets for sealing module housing to the the bottle (additional Viton Gaskets are available for purchase as RF34)
1 - RF41: Synthetic Grease with PTFE (1/2 oz)
5 - RF11: Viton-Silicone Tube Assemblies
The RF Gas Production System uses rechargeable battery packs (RF16/RF46).
The RF25 10-Station Battery Charger is used to charge the RF16/RF46 Rechargeable Battery Packs. As the name says, this charger can charge 10 batteries at one time.

This1.8L Wide Mouth Bottle assembly attaches directly to an RF1 electrical assembly just like all of the smaller bottles. This RF1 configuration provides the largest bottle by volume and by opening available with the RF Gas Production System. If you have a large sample to analyze such as dough, this assembly might work best for your needs.
This 1.8L Wide Mouth Bottle is used in the RF42 assembly and is the largest bottle by volume and by opening available with the RF Gas Production System. If you have a large sample to analyze such as dough, this bottle might work best for your needs.
An adapter is required to attach this bottle to an RF1 electrical assembly.
This battery kit includes the following:
- 1-Dual Lead RF Rechargeable Battery Pack (RF46)
- 1-5 ft Battery Extension Cable (RF44)
- 1-Red Cap with a notch for the extension cable
Longer length cables are available upon request.
Along with a 3 ft Extension Cable (RF44), the Dual Lead Rechargeable Battery Pack (RF46) provides the capability to charge your RF1 module's battery during an experiment by keeping it connected to the Battery Charger (RF25) throughout the entire experiment.
This provides your RF1 with maximum power.
The RF16 Rechargeable Battery Packs are used to provide power to the RF1 & RF5 Gas Production Module electronics.
Use an RF25 10 Station Charger to recharge your batteries.
Radio frequency communication can be impacted by distance and obstructions such as metal structures.
The RF29 10 ft Antennae Extension Assembly can be connected to the RF2 Base Coordinator to improve radio frequency communication by allowing the communication hardware to be closer to RF1 modules in areas such as water baths, ovens, or incubators.
This cable (RF44) is used to connect the Dual Lead Battery Pack (RF46) to the 10-Station Battery Charger (RF25).
Longer extension cables are available upon request.
The RF2 Base Coordinator uses an antenna to communicate with the RF1 modules.
The 7143 antenna is a replacement part for the one connected to the RF2 Base Coordinator, and/or the one connected to the RF29 Antenna Extension Assembly.
The RF28 Air Purge Assembly can be used to purge the glass bottle prior to an experiment, or to pressurize the module assembly (through the Luer Duckbill Check Valve - 7139) to check for leaks.
For module purge instructions, see RF Service Procedure 2.
The RF Gen 2 Circuit Board contains the electronics used for communication with all RF1 / RF5 modules.
For installation instructions, see RF Service Procedure 13.
This one-way valve is used for adding gas into the glass bottle of an RF1 module. This is often done to purge the bottle of existing gases.
To push gas into the bottle using an Air Purge Assembly (RF28), see Service Procedure 2.
The 7146 Female Luer Port is included as part of each RF1 module and used to connect the 7139 Luer Duckbill Check Valve to the RF1 module. This part can also accept the 7147 Male Luer Cap to close off the port.
The Module Cap is the red plastic part on the top of the RF1 Gas Production Module.
The cap covers the electronics in the RF1 and the electronics in the RF5 Reference Module Zero.
The pressure inside the glass bottle of the RF1 Gas Production Module is measured using a pressure sensor. The data from the sensor is then communicated through the RF2 coordinator to the GPS software using wireless technology.
The RF31 Pressure Sensor Assembly is a replacement part for the pressure sensor.
This wrist strap minimizes the static electricity discharge that can negatively affect the programming on the electronics chip within your RF1 module. You should use this strap whenever you are servicing RF1 electronics, including whenever you install and remove RF16 and RF46 battery packs.
The RF Gas Production System bottles that include a septa port use a 3 mm 2-sided PTFE coated Silicone Septa to provide an easy to penetrate seal while providing minimal pressure loss per penetration.
The RF35 pack includes 10 septa.
The RF41 Synthetic Grease w/PTFE is a non-toxic lubricant used to assist in creating a seal between the RF34 Viton® Gasket and the module/bottle, and between the PTFE coated septa and the septa port on the bottle.
For application instructions regarding gasket replacement, see RF Service Procedure 11.
The RF22.5 Vent Valve Adapter is used to attach the 7043 Syringe to the vent valve tube to aid in cleaning the vent valve on a Gas Production Module (RF1).
For Vent Valve cleaning instructions, see RF Service Procedure 6.
The RF22 Vent Valve Cleaning Kit is used to clean the vent valve on a Gas Production Module (RF1).
For Vent Valve cleaning instructions, see RF Service Procedure 6.
The durable Viton® Gasket increases the seal quality between the RF1 Gas Production Module and the glass bottle. We recommend replacing gaskets when they become worn, torn, or begin to leak.
The RF34 pack includes 10 Viton® Gaskets.
For installation instructions, see RF Service Procedure 11.
The RF2X Base Coordinator facilitates communication between the Gas Production Modules (RF1X/RF5X) and the GPM Software installed on a PC. One RF2X Base Coordinator services an RFS base kit of up to 50 modules. To purchase, please contact ANKOM Technology at sales@ankom.com or call 315-986-9080.
The RF5 and RF5X Gas Production Module Zero is used to monitor and record atmospheric pressure. This module communicates with the GPS Software through the Base Coordinator.
The Chemical Receptacle is used to house an NaOH (or stronger Base) when performing oxygen consumption studies. The function of the Base material is to scavenge the CO2 produced by the aerobic metabolism. This produces a negative pressure as the O2 is consumed and the resulting production of CO2 reacts with the Base.
The Chemical Receptacle includes the following parts:
The RF45 and RF45X Programmed RF Chips w/antenna facilitate communication between the Gas Production Modules, the Module Zero, and the Gas Production Base Coordinator.
