What is the max sample size you can process?

The FLEX instrument can process up to 20g of sample for vitamin and cholesterol analysis. The sample size maximum is dependent on sample composition, analyte content, and the homogeneity of the sample. Samples that typically require 20g test portion are high-moisture samples such as juice and milk. Most other samples are run at 0.25 to 5g test portion. Crude and total fat analysis uses 1g sample per assay. Since fat is a macronutrient, homogeneity issues can be solved with proper homogenization or grinding prior to analysis.
