The Chemical Receptacle is used to scavenge vapors to protect electrical components. For example, it can be used with NaOH (or a stronger base) when performing oxygen consumption studies. The function of the base material is to scavenge the CO2 produced by the aerobic metabolism. This produces a negative pressure as the O2 is consumed and the resulting production of CO2 reacts with the base. 

The Chemical Receptacle includes the following parts:
- (1) Rubber Top Hat 
- (1) White Filter
- (1) Metal Washer with White Filter glued to it
