The Dairy One Forage Laboratory receives samples of feed, forages, byproducts, and ingredients from around the world each day. Known for their versatility of livestock and exotic animal feed analysis across a variety of industries, Dairy One needed high throughput and lower costs without compromising accuracy.

For almost 30 years, ANKOM and Dairy One have enjoyed a collaborative relationship in pursuit of innovative technologies. In the late 1990s, Dairy One assisted in the refinement of the In-Vitro True Digestibility (IVTD) method with the ANKOM DAISY II Incubator. The inclusion of the DAISY II launched Dairy One’s performance of fiber digestibility. In 1998, they became one of the first commercial labs to offer 30-hour IVTD and 30-hour Neutral Detergent Fiber Digestibility (NDFD) using ANKOM equipment.

Choosing to automate the traditional Van Soest (lignin, ADF, and aNDF) and AOAC (Crude Fiber) methods for fiber analysis improved Dairy One’s efficiency. The Ithaca, NY lab has employed all three generations of ANKOM Fiber Analyzers (the A200, A2000, and the DELTA) and benefitted from the reduction of laborious, manual individual sample processing.

Dairy One credits ANKOM instruments for improved technician satisfaction and reduced turnaround time. “Quality of the instrumentation and the resultant data, ease of use, and lower cost have been critical factors for us,” the Dairy One team shared. “The ANKOM team and the exceptional service and support after the sale has been particularly valuable to us throughout our relationship.”
